The Human Touch, our most valuable Skill! Let’s not lose it!

It’s become increasingly evident to me when making decisions in this new era of technology, people tend to select the means by which the least cognitive effort is required, and today with the presence of the internet, this often results in letting technology dictate the path or determine a certain decision. This factor is likely to play a greater role in the coming years as technology continues to develop, leading me to infer humans are going to be faced with complex tasks and thus harder decisions to make.

I ask myself, “is this just a sign of the times” or a growing over-reliance on something that I can’t entirely trust. The “human factor” is slowly becoming the prominent missing piece.

As a teenager the growing power of social media and my new dependence on technology for my education has both it’s benefits and cons; or concerns for this grey area of overly committing to the movement. Where will the human effect go?

Technology gives us the opportunity to learn new skills, people can start businesses from scratch that run entirely online which is ever present today however, this quick access to skills can present the same problem as with memorization and things that use to seem natural because now we turn to our devices for a particular skill-set and it can impact our natural skill attainment and abilities. As we become more and more reliant on technology, which I know is inevitable I think it’s important to remember the human effect and keep it for as long as possible.
